BIOGRAPHY

Jeremy Ragsdale grew up surrounded by music in Annapolis, Maryland. He began studying classical piano at age 7, was trained in jazz by his father, and began to play the piano professionally by the age of 12. By the time he went to college, he had already performed vocally with various ensembles at Carnegie Hall and recorded a CD at Sony Music Studios in Los Angeles. Singing was now his main focus.

After briefly studying Classical performance at New England Conservatory, Ragsdale transferred to Berklee College of Music. Now a graduate of Berklee, he has studied, performed, and/or recorded with many well-known and highly experienced musicians such as Patti Austin, Kevin Mahogany, Lalah Hathaway, Walter Beasley, Hiromi, Phil Wilson, Kim Nazarian and Peter Eldridge of the New York Voices, and Susan Tedeschi.

As a former member of Jazz Vocal Quartet SYNCOPATION, Ragsdale recently released his first widely distributed album, entitled "Of Blue", with Geneon Entertainment. The group has toured Japan numerous times, and has appeared domestically at the Boston Globe Jazz & Blues Festival, Tri-C Jazz Fest and the 2004 and 2006 IAJE Conventions in New York City.

Jeremy is currently working on his own solo album, to be released this November. The album will feature brand-new big band arrangements by his father, Scott Ragsdale (former head arranger for the US Navy Band). Stay tuned for more information about the CD release!

Jeremy Ragsdale is an adjunct professor of jazz vocal studies at Towson University.
